To every student around the world taking part in #SchoolStrikeforClimate, remember, the people getting angry are exactly the ones you need to be pissing off.

Be Bold in your demands but also be Truthful in your pursuits. A foundation that hides a weakness will fail when needed most. And you will need that foundation because you’re going to be standing on it for a long, long time.

You know it as well as anyone, but you won’t have a victory today. You probably won’t have victory tomorrow. There won’t be a victory for many years and you will have to fight for it every step of the way.

I wish things were different. I wish the past had been smarter, or more forward-thinking, or less greedy, or any number of possible changes that would have given you a less tumultuous path in life.

But here you are though, even though the whole world is telling you to move and hide and take the easy path you have chosen to stand up against what they were too afraid to face. I just hope that you will have the strength to keep going.

People like me who have left school are trying to blaze the trail for you, but we know we likely won’t make it through to the end. So as we falter and fall, and you pass us by, learn our lessons and be better than we were. That’s the point of being a student, after all, isn’t it?
